Trial of Russian charged in bitcoin fraud begins in Paris

Australians, you need to start buying as much crypto as you can.

I’m Australian, this isn’t meant to be an alarmist or sensationalist post, but the economic situation in our country is a lot more serious than most of us think.
First off, the current economic situation.
Simply put, our economy is fucked. Our housing market is dangerously overleveraged and because of policies by our government at the time, we never experienced the correction the US and most of the rest of the world did during the 2008 Global Financial Crisis. And now the chickens are coming home to roost. Australians are up to their eyeballs in debt, almost half of the housing loans are interest only, it’s the reason the Reserve Bank of Australia hasn’t raised the interest rates since 2016. Because as soon as they do, even by 0.01%, tens of thousands of Australians are going to default on their mortgages. It’s no secret that our housing market is one of the most expensive in the world, and anyone living in our country already knows this. The market value of Australian homes is 4 times the GDP of the country. Our housing market is beyond the point of saving and the bubble is about to pop. And while our mainstream media is trying to convince us that it will deflate slowly, history paints a different picture.
And that’s just the start of our problems. It’s no secret that China is our biggest trading partner. We rely on China more than any other developed country in the world. And what is currently happening on the greater global stage? Our most important military ally has engaged in a trade war with China, and the effects of that trade war are starting to be felt. Chinese stocks are in freefall, and that’s only going to be the beginning of the negative effects from Trump’s hardline approach to dealing with China. It doesn’t take a genius to see that this is going to have a devastating effect on our economy.
Our biggest trading partner is having a financial gunfight with the USA, which is going to result in them buying less of our stuff. And still that isn’t the end of it. Mining is down. Commodities prices are down. Our manufacturing sector is almost dead. The only thing we have going for us at the moment is agriculture and that can’t prop up the entire economy. You wanna turn white? Read this article from last year. Our economy is teetering on the precipice.
You think I’m being dramatic? Well even the Australian MSM can no longer ignore it. With articles like this appearing almost on the daily. Our dollar is in serious trouble, anyone who knows the slightest bit about TA go look at the graphs in that article. Our country is in serious economic trouble. And we don’t know shit about it because our media is a duopoly that makes most of its money from their real estate arms. All signs are pointing to our dollar about to be worth a hell of a lot less than it currently is.
What can we do?
Since this is the crypto subreddit the solution to this impending economic shitstorm should be painfully obvious. Buy fucking Bitcoin. Not the solution for the country, for you. The country isn’t going to do shit for anyone of us except saddle us with debt and a cooked economy that is going to take generations to get out of, if ever. So we should be diversifying. Sure buying gold probably isn’t a stupid idea either, but if you think that is proof against state intervention, read a history book. Even then, gold still needs to be converted into cash to be useful, and anyone paying attention can see that Australia is gearing up for a war on cash that borders on tyrannical. The only way for us as individuals to protect our wealth at the moment is to convert it into cryptocurrency.
But Bitcoin is low at the moment!
No shit. But if you think it’s going to stay that way you are 1. In the wrong subreddit, and 2. No paying attention to the macro factors of crypto. Wall St is gearing up to enter. The bank that runs the world is getting involved. And not just American banks. Bitcoin may be low now but if you know anything about market cycles, you know that it’ll be back. Here is a good comparison of BTC a few years ago as opposed to now. It’s almost at the point where it’s irresponsible not to be buying bitcoin, and I’m not the only one that holds this opinion. Worst case scenario, bitcoin falls to USD 3k. What do you think is going to happen after that? Bitcoin and crypto aren’t going anywhere and you’re kidding yourself if you think that the value of bitcoin isn’t going to be much higher in the years to come.
Of course the RBA is telling people that Bitcoin is dead, probably because they don’t want Australians to dump their soon to be worthless fiat currency. In fact one any given day you’ll see a bunch of anti-crypto propaganda on our MSM. The same MSM that has been telling us all to buy as many houses as we can for the last 20 years. The same MSM that up until now hasn’t said shit about the direction our economy is heading in.
The writing’s on the wall people. If we keep our wealth in AUD it’s going to be worth considerably less sooner rather than later. Our property sector is going to crash, our dollar is going to crash, our personal wealth is going to be stripped away from us. If you want to avoid this, if you want to protect your wealth, ensure a future that isn’t financial hardship, then we really only have one choice. Buy bitcoin. Personally I am converting half my pay each week into BTC and just holding it. Not putting it into alts. Just btc. I’d advise you do the same as well. I understand that this sounds super risky. But if you read the articles I’ve linked to in this post I’m sure you’ll see that the only risky move is doing nothing. This isn’t a joke or a false alarm. The notion that our economy has always been fine up until now isn’t valid anymore. If you want to protect your personal wealth and purchasing power in the next few years, you really should be buying as much btc as you can while it is this low. This is what crypto is for, avoiding the negative financial downturns of specific countries. It’s a globally traded commodity that is accessible by anyone with a computer. Our economy tanking isn’t going to affect the price one bit.
I hope some of this has been useful. Listen to me, don’t listen to me, it’s your choice. But this is the digital age, there’s no excuse for ignorance anymore.

The Next Frontier: Why Frontier Technologies Are Important

The Next Frontier: Why Frontier Technologies Are Important

https://preview.redd.it/vaqfwt5cgva21.png?width=1980&format=png&auto=webp&s=2fb57cad42fdb37f965409fdc222b1c21e65bc03

Ask a few dozen random people about the things they cannot live without and many will immediately respond, “my smartphone!” Who would have thought that an invention could scale so quickly and become an inseparable part of our daily lives? In just over 10 years the mainstream adoption of smartphones has increased to a point that many are solely reliant on their device for news, weather, social media, hotel or restaurant reservations, online shopping, playing a game, email, text, and yes, even making phone calls!

Needless to say, technology is making great advancements. Take for instance the development of the supercomputer IBM Watson, the accelerated interest in blockchain technology, and the increasing popularity of drones that have been the topic of many media news stories. As devices become smarter and technology advances, we see a shift taking place from a traditional economy to an automated economy. We are entering the automated revolution and frontier technologies are leading the way.

What Are Frontier Technologies?

Frontier technologies are basically technological advancements that have passed through the research and development (R&D) phase but have not yet been mass marketed nor adopted by the mainstream. Examples of frontier technologies include robotics and artificial intelligence (AI), autonomous vehicles, machine learning, blockchain technology, drones, renewable energy, and augmented reality.

Another feature of frontier technologies is that they usually outpace the ability of regulators and policymakers to adapt and set specific standards for their particular industry. In some cases, especially where mainstream adoption is concerned, regulation can cause the advancement of an innovative technology to slow down.

Robotics and AI

The robotics and AI industries are accelerating at a rapid pace. Various projects have emerged that have already started to shift the perspective people have about robotics from being things of the future to real possibilities in the present. Take, for instance, the humanoid robot Sophia that was granted citizenship in Saudi Arabia or the OhmniLabs telepresence robot that allows children to be present in classrooms when they are unable to attend in person. To be sure, robotics and AI will play a big part in the upcoming 4th industrial revolution. Estimates show that more than 50% of our jobs will be overtaken by automation and the time frame in which this will occur is slowly creeping up.

Machine Learning

A new frontier tech solution that has emerged from AI is machine learning. As a new field, machine learning is used to explore the study and construction of algorithms that can learn from and make predictions on data sets. Uber and Lyft are already using algorithmic pricing, which dictates that people pay a certain price per ride depending on specific customer-related data.

Autonomous Vehicles

Driving a car is an inefficient way to move from point A to point B. Drivers need to constantly be aware of their surroundings and potentially dangerous situations. Each year on average 1.25 million people worldwide are killed while traveling from one place to another. At some point in the future, autonomous vehicles will replace traditional motorized vehicles and make traveling a lot safer.

The automotive industry is testing autonomous vehicles on roads in a number of cities. Recently, Toyota announced a $500 million investment in Uber’s autonomous car development department. BMW is working on developing a fully autonomous car. These are examples of big, traditional companies that are adapting to frontier tech.

Drones

When you hear about drones, you might only think about recreational commercial drones. But DJI, the world’s largest commercial drone company, does a ton of business; it is currently valued at $15 billion. Not bad for a company that was founded in 2016. Interestingly, drone development has the ability to help people in need. Drones can be instructed to help people perform medical care, they are ordered to deliver blood and vaccines near (remote) hospitals in Rwanda and drones can get emergency care packages, medicine, food, and water delivered to a specific disaster location.

Blockchain Technology

Blockchain or distributed ledger technology has seen steady growth since 2008 when Satoshi Nakamoto introduced the world to the peer-to-peer electronic cash system called Bitcoin. Besides its countless decentralized use cases, such as streamlining a supply chain, building decentralized applications (Dapps), digital identity management, and peer-to-peer trading in the energy market, it can also be used in a centralized way. According to this Forbes article, there are currently more than 50 big corporations exploring the ability to adapt to blockchain technology.

Why Are Frontier Technologies Important?

A companion robot that supports elderly citizens, a Pinterest starting page that automatically shows photos that might interest you based on your personal user data, a glucose monitor that attaches to your smartphone, or a drone that delivers your online orders — these are just a few examples of innovative technologies that might impact our lives in a positive way.

By definition, frontier technologies are always at the forefront of innovation. These technologies have the ability to provide ground-breaking solutions that may be implemented later on a large scale and achieve worldwide mainstream adoption. Frontier technologies can contribute to increasing overall life expectancy and quality of life as we get older. They can provide large-scale solutions to real-world problems.

Corporate Interest in Tech Innovations

Google has been very active in acquiring small tech companies that focus on technologically savvy products. Those companies are absorbed by Google and the technology is further developed within the Google sphere. Besides Google, other companies like Apple (with the acquisition of AI device startup Silk Labs) are following the same path. Just look at the example of Toyota investing $500 million in Uber’s autonomous car service. These are two large corporations that will only become bigger. Not only will they become bigger, but they are also slowing down the industry’s development by keeping their resources and development to themselves. This will not benefit the technology industry. It will only benefit centralized entities.

The Case for Open Innovation in Frontier Technology

A solution to growing the technology industry with equal opportunity for small and medium-sized enterprises, as well as, individual developers, is to provide them with the ability to participate in an open innovation platform where knowledge and resources will be shared and active development will be incentivized. At Kambria, we are creating an open innovation platform where developers, manufacturers, companies, and users will work together and share resources to accelerate frontier technologies. Kambria is a decentralized platform that is based on blockchain technology.

We developed Kambria with blockchain for several reasons:

Our innovations can remain open and available to humanity forever.
Contributions to Kambria will be transparent and immutable.
Attributions to contributors will be fair, transparent, and decentralized.
We are actively collaborating with worldwide universities to avoid waste in university research projects. At Kambria we aim to redefine and turbocharge the innovation process with the help of our contributing community members. Active participants will be rewarded with our native KAT tokens.

Morning prepper

An emerging market selloff focused on Argentina and Turkey has begun to spread to other major economies in the developing world as contagion fears ripple through the markets. Indonesian equities sank for a fifth day as policy makers attempted to support the rupiah through measures including interest rate hikes, while South Africa's rand, hit hard by the country’s first economic contraction since 2009, is now this week's worst-performing emerging market currency.

Senior officials from the U.S. and Canada are due to meet in Washington today in a bid to settle major NAFTA differences amid pressure from the Trump administration. "No NAFTA is better than a bad NAFTA deal for Canadians and that’s what we are going to stay with," Justin Trudeau told reporters, stating he would insist on keeping the Chapter 19 dispute-resolution mechanism and existing protections that ban U.S. media firms from buying Canadian cultural industries.
Australia's economy sped past all expectations in Q2 as rapid population growth fueled demand for homes and infrastructure, while bolstering consumer spending despite painfully slow wages growth. GDP was 3.4% higher than a year earlier, ahead even of the 2.9% growth boasted by the U.S., a remarkable feat given the nation's ever-changing procession of prime ministers.
Concerns about economic damage from a powerful typhoon weighed on Japanese shares overnight, resulting in the Nikkei's fourth consecutive day of losses. Jebi, the most powerful storm to hit the country in 25 years, rammed through Western Japan, killing at least ten people and leaving more than a million homes without power. It also briefly submerged a large part of Kansai Airport. Many chip plants operate in the region, including Toshiba Memory (OTCPK:TOSYY).
Tropical Storm Gordon has made landfall just west of the Alabama-Mississippi border, but oil prices are partly reversing a strong jump from the previous day, when dozens of U.S. oil and gas platforms were shut in anticipation of the impending disruption. Not as strong as expected? The storm was shifting eastward late Tuesday, reducing its threat to producers on the western side of the Gulf and most Gulf Coast refineries.
Saudi Arabia wants oil to stay between $70 and $80 a barrel for now, according to OPEC and industry sources, as the world's biggest crude exporter strikes a balance between maximizing revenue and keeping a lid on prices until U.S. congressional elections. Shortly after announcing the flotation of Saudi Aramco in 2016, the kingdom began pushing for higher crude prices, but that changed in April when President Trump put public pressure on Riyadh to keep prices in check.
Stocks
Amazon briefly joined Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) yesterday to become the second publicly listed U.S. company in the $1T club. The e-commerce giant is so far up 75% in 2018, adding over $435B in market cap - or about one Walmart (NYSE:WMT). Analysts cite Amazon's (NASDAQ:AMZN) ever-diversifying portfolio as a value driver, including the purchase of Whole Foods, last-mile deliveries and its push into advertising.
Big Tech goes to Congress... Facebook (NASDAQ:FB) COO Sheryl Sandberg and Twitter (NYSE:TWTR) CEO Jack Dorsey will testify today before the Senate Intelligence Committee about how the big technology companies are preparing for midterm elections. Google (GOOG, GOOGL) executives Larry Page and Sundar Pichai were also invited to appear, but the offer was declined. The hearing is a follow-up to the one convened in November on Russian election interference.
The health joint venture formed by Amazon (AMZN), Berkshire Hathaway (BRK.A, BRK.B), and JPMorgan (NYSE:JPM) has hired Jack Stoddard, most recently general manager for digital health at Comcast (NASDAQ:CMCSA), as chief operating officer. Author and physician Atul Gawande started as CEO in July. The project was formed to deal with the problem of high healthcare costs for the three companies' combined 1.2M workers.
Theranos, the once-celebrated Silicon Valley blood-testing firm, is about to dissolve itself months after top executives were indicted for defrauding investors. The move follows a failed attempt by the company to sell itself, during which it reached out to more than 80 potential buyers through Jefferies Group. Theranos (THERA) will attempt to pay unsecured creditors its remaining cash in the coming months, WSJ reports, adding that big name investors had lost about $1B.
JD.com CEO Richard Liu was arrested in Minneapolis on Friday following an allegation of rape, according to a public information police report. He had spent last week at a residency for a Ph.D. program in business administration offered by the University of Minnesota's Carlson School of Management, and the charge surfaced by a female student from China. Despite denying wrongdoing and being released by police, JD.com's ADRs (NASDAQ:JD) fell 6% to $29.43 on Tuesday.
A big pivot toward e-commerce... Facebook's (FB) Instagram is working on a standalone app for shopping, The Verge reports, which would allow users to browse goods from merchants that they follow and seal the purchase inside the app. There are few other details around the plan for now, but more than 25M businesses already have Instagram accounts, 2M of which are advertisers.
Britain's William Hill is expanding further into the U.S., signing a 25-year sports betting deal with casino operator Eldorado Resorts (NASDAQ:ERI). William Hill (OTCPK:WIMHY) shares rose 5.5% in London on news of the third such U.S. deal in just over a month, following a U.S. Supreme court ruling in May that lifted a ban on sports betting and opened the door to states regulating the industry.
Bayer's $63B Monsanto purchase has suffered delays, legal battles over Roundup herbicide and now will yield lower earnings than earlier forecast, but the company's CEO said he has "no regrets." "The Monsanto business is very healthy," Werner Baumann told Bloomberg. Bayer (OTCPK:BAYRY) shares still slipped 2.3% in Europe on a series of mixed results and the weaker profit outlook.
30 more cases of illnesses linked to Salmonella contamination of Kellogg's (NYSE:K) Honey Smacks cereal have been reported, according to the CDC, bringing the total to 130 cases across 36 states. So far 34 people have been hospitalized, but no deaths have occurred. While Kellogg in June decided to recall 1.3M boxes of Honey Smacks, the contaminated cereal is still being sold in some locations.
Toyota is recalling more than a million of its Prius (NYSE:TM) and C-HR compact crossover vehicles globally due to the risk of fire. If dust accumulates on the wire harness or the cover, the insulation on the wires could wear down over time due to vehicle vibrations. This could cause an electrical short circuit, which could generate heat and lead to a risk of fire.
Boeing's KC-46 mid-air refueling tanker program has finally scored FAA certification. Earlier in July when Boeing (NYSE:BA) reported quarterly results, the company said it would spend an additional $426M before taxes on the program as it worked through test delays and production changes. Analysts had said they were worried that the additional expenses would slow shares, adding that the higher tanker costs came with unchanged earnings and cash flow forecasts. BA -0.8% premarket.
Tuesday's Key Earnings Workday (NYSE:WDAY) -2.4% AH despite Q3 beat, guidance raise. Today's Markets In Asia, Japan -0.4%. Hong Kong -2.6%. China -1.7%. India -0.4%. INTRODUCTION

Cryptocurrency is essentially digital money traded from one person to another through the use of pseudonyms. There are no intermediaries like banks, no governmental oversight or authority, and no fees. The “crypto” in cryptocurrency refers to the use of cryptography to ensure the security and privacy of every transaction.
New coins are created through a technique called mining. The process requires powerful computers that solve complex math problems. Each problem should take about 10 minutes to solve, and results in the creation of a predetermined number of coins. The total number of coins that can be created is fixed — there’s a limit of 21 million bitcoins that can be created. The number of coins rewarded for solving each problem dwindles as time goes on.
Bitcoin is believed to have been created in 2009 by Satoshi Nakamoto, an enigmatic figure who has so far proven all but impossible to definitively identify. By using cryptography to control the creation and tracking of a digital currency, Nakamoto took that power away from central authorities like governments.
Bitcoin was the first and most famous digital currency, but you can choose from more than 1,500, including ether, litecoin and even cryptokitties. For awhile, you saw these currencies only in the darkest corners of the internet, where people used them for all sorts of questionable, even illegal, activities. Drug dealers liked them because they made transactions all but invisible, and trolls at the Kremlin-backed Internet Research Agency used bitcoin to finance their campaign to influence the 2016 election.
That started to change in 2014, when Overstock became the first major US retailer to accept bitcoin. Companies like Expedia and Microsoft followed suit.
One of the biggest misconceptions about cryptocurrencies is that you need thousands of dollars to invest. It’s an easy assumption to make, especially in the case of bitcoin, which stayed under $1,000 from about 2010 to 2017. But then it took off, surpassing thousand-dollar milestones at a pace that seemed quicker than you could refresh your phone.
The staggering value is off-putting to many. But unlike most stocks, you can buy a fraction of a bitcoin so you don’t need thousands to get into the crypto game.
As more technological advancements are uncovered, BEXAM, a revolutionary blockchain/DAG hybrid platform with high speeds of 0.2s block time, full scalability with no delays, and world class security that hinders hacking and data manipulation came on board.

OVERVIEW OF BEXAM

BEXAM’s root is Japan which connotes quality, to authenticate this, we can take a look at what sets Japan’s inventions apart from others. Most of Japan’s inventions are not new, but a perfection of other inventions such as Sony’s portable radio-the walkman, Toyota’s hybrid vehicles e.t.c. Japanese inventions are majorly improvements on existing products through small steps no matter how good the product is already. BEXAM inculcated this practice also known as “kaizen” which is globally recognized. The philosophy means continual improvement and was also adopted by Toyota. BEXAM strongly believes in progressive development, thereby seeing each day as an opportunity to be better than the previous day. This encouraged their partnership with Early Works Co.Ltd, a Japanese technology company who shares the same vision. Bowl Experience Project Day 14: The St. Petersburg and TaxSlayer Bowls!

stpetersburg St. Petersburg Bowl stpetersburg - Writeup by xelphin

2016 Matchup: miamioh Miami OH vs. Mississippi State Mississippi State

miamioh Miami (OH) (6-6) miamioh
Miami (OH) Redhawks - Miami made history this season after starting with a rocky 0-6 start to the season and ending with an unprecedented 6-0 finish of the season to bring them to .500 and ensure bowl eligibility. Some claim that the change is due in part a change in the depth chart, which put Gus Ragland in the driver's seat at QB. This may be the redshirt sophomore's chance to make the MAC shine.
Losing close to WKU and creeping up on Cincinnati are sour tastes in the Redhawks' mouths and this bowl game is surely one of the toughest of their season. The Redhawks run defense, which is one of the best in the MAC, will come into play for this game with Tony Reid, Heath Harding, and De'Andre Montgomery shutting it down any chance they get.
Mississippi State Mississippi State (5-7) Mississippi State
Mississippi State Bulldogs - The Bulldogs, entering the game 5-7 on the season, rode their Academic Progress Report into bowl eligibility and they are going to come out looking for blood in this bowl. For them, failure is not an option: Win, and the SEC beat a MAC team. Lose, and the SEC lost to a MAC team. Unfortunate, but true.
Because of this, Mississippi State needs to come out fired up, and that extra 15 practices may do just that. On the brighter side of things, Nick Fitzgerald is surely going to be looking for any chances to shine and could very well be a dominant force in the pocket. Look for them to show some of that 'SEC speed.' The defense also very much needs to step up, specifically on pass defense. If they can patch a few holes in the defense, they should have very few issues.
Bowl History
Location: St. Petersburg, FL
Stadium: Tropicana Field
Bowl Held Since: 2008
Conference Tie-Ins: American vs. ACC or Conference USA (Alternates MAC, Sun Belt)
Sponsor History:
magicJack (2008)
Beef O'Brady's (2009-2013)
BitPay (2014)
Payout: $500,000
Bowl History: The St. Petersburg Bowl is the third college bowl game to be played in the Tampa Bay area; both the long-defunct Cigar Bowl and the ongoing Outback Bowl have been held across the bay in Tampa. The bowl game features teams from the American Athletic Conference against either the Atlantic Coast Conference or Conference USA, unless one of the conferences does not have enough bowl eligible teams. In those cases, the Mid-American or Sun Belt Conference are eligible to send a team. This year, with teams from the SEC and MAC, they are slightly out of their typical fare as the SEC is not in their associated Conference Pool and the MAC is considered an 'Alternate'.
Interesting Facts:
Since Tropicana Field was originally designed for baseball, the football gridiron is arranged along the right field line, from home plate to the foul pole. The game is one of three bowls to take place in a baseball-only stadium among current post-season football contests; the others being the Miami Beach Bowl (played at Miami's Marlins Park) and the Pinstripe Bowl (played in The Bronx, New York at Yankee Stadium).
On June 18, 2014, it was announced that bitcoin payment service provider BitPay would become the new sponsor of the game under a two-year deal, renamed the Bitcoin St. Petersburg Bowl. Bitcoin, the digital currency, would be accepted for ticket and concession sales at the game as part of the sponsorship, and the sponsorship itself was also paid for using bitcoin. On April 2, 2015, after one year of sponsorship, BitPay declined to renew sponsorship of the game.
Notable Games:
2008 magicJack St. Petersburg Bowl: The inaugural St. Petersburg Bowl game was played on Dec 20, 2008, between the South Florida Bulls and Memphis Tigers, with the USF Bulls winning by a score of 41–14. USF Quarterback Matt Grothe was named Most Outstanding Player, after throwing for 236 yards and three touchdowns and rushing for 83 yards on 15 carries.
2011 Beef 'O' Brady's Bowl: The 2011 Beef 'O' Brady's Bowl featured the first Sun Belt conference team to play in the game, as Florida International lost 20–10 to Marshall (Conference USA). This was the first time that the Big East (a previous bowl tie-in conference) was unable to send a team to the game. FIU joined Marshall in C-USA in 2013, both competed in the conference's East Division for football.

2016 Matchup:kentucky Kentucky vs. Georgia Tech georgia tech

kentucky Kentucky (7-5) kentucky
Kentucky Wildcats: In both the last 2 seasons, Kentucky was one game away from being bowl eligible for the first time since 2010. After opening the 2016 campaign with a loss to Southern Mississippi and on the wrong end of a blow out against Florida, all the talk in Lexington was whether or not Mark Stoops would be fired. The Wildcats changed their offensive style though as Stoops took over on the defense, resulting in the Wildcats ripping off seven wins out of their last 10 games for their best regular season finish since 2009. It was also the most conference wins (4) since 2006 capping off the turnaround season with a huge victory over rival Louisville. Speaking of, Kentucky shocked the world as they topped the Louisville Cardinals by picking off Heisman winner Lamar Jackson repeatedly in a 41-38 upset.
georgia tech Georgia Tech (8-4) georgia tech
Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets: Georgia Tech may have had the quietest eight-win season in college football in 2016. They opened the season with a 17-14 against Boston College in Dublin, and equaled their 2015 win total of 3 after only the first 3 weeks. However, they dropped their next three games and entered the last half of the season at 3-3. As winners of five of their last six including wins over then #14 Virginia Tech and at rival Georgia, the Yellow Jackets showed marked improvement from 2015. Georgia Tech finished 10th in the country in rushing offense at 257 yards per game while seven players amassed 20 or more carries for the season.
Bowl History
Location: Jacksonville, FL

Progressive Gator Bowl (2011)
TaxSlayer.com Gator Bowl (2012–2013)
Payout: $3,500,000+
TaxSlayer Bowl History: Operating continously since 1946 makes the TaxSlayer Bowl (Gator Bowl) the 6th oldest bowl game and was the first to be televised nationally. Florida and Clemson are tied with the most appearances with nine each. Starting in 2015, the bowl began a conference tie-in deal that will feature SEC teams playing ACC teams for three years, then Big Ten teams the other three years; Notre Dame is also eligible during ACC years.
Notable Games:
1978 Gator Bowl: Ohio State vs. Clemson - Ohio State coach Woody Hayes infamously lost his temper after a Clemson interception. Clemson player Charlie Bauman stepped out of bounds on the Ohio State sideline and Hayes hit Bauman with his forearm. Clemson won the game and Hayes was fired the next day.
1960 Gator Bowl: Florida vs. Baylor - Florida scored two touchdowns in the second quarter, but with a failed extra point, the Gators lead 13-0 entering the fourth quarter. Baylor RB Ronnie Bull punched it in from 3 yards out with less than 2 minutes to go to make the score 13-12. Baylor coach John Bridgers decided to go for the win and the 2 point conversion. Bobby Ply's two-point conversion toss into the end zone hit WR Ronnie Goodwin in the hands, but he dropped the ball and Florida held on for the win.

Now we want to hear from YOU!

Have you attended one of these bowls? If so, tell us about your experience! What was the gameday atmosphere? What advice would you give to fans traveling to the game? Do you recommend it?
