    1. The debate is not "SHOULD THE BLOCKSIZE BE 1MB VERSUS 1.7MB?". The debate is: "WHO SHOULD DECIDE THE BLOCKSIZE?" (1) Should an obsolete temporary anti-spam hack freeze blocks at 1MB? (2) Should a centralized dev team soft-fork the blocksize to 1.7MB? (3) OR SHOULD THE MARKET DECIDE THE BLOCKSIZE? (354 points, 116 comments)
    2. BU-SW parity! 231 vs 231 of the last 1000 blocks! Consensus will always win over censorship! MARKET-BASED blocksize will always win over CENTRALLY-PLANNED blocksize! People want blocksize to be determined by the MARKET - not by Greg Maxwell & his 1.7MB anyone-can-spend SegWit-as-a-soft-fork blocks. (271 points, 66 comments)
    3. The number of blocks being mined by Bitcoin Unlimited is now getting very close to surpassing the number of blocks being mined by SegWit! More and more people are supporting BU's MARKET-BASED BLOCKSIZE - because BU avoids needless transaction delays and ultimately increases Bitcoin adoption & price! (185 points, 80 comments)
    4. "Notice how anyone who has even remotely supported on-chain scaling has been censored, hounded, DDoS'd, attacked, slandered & removed from any area of Core influence. Community, business, Hearn, Gavin, Jeff, XT, Classic, Coinbase, Unlimited, ViaBTC, Ver, Jihan, Bitcoin.com, btc" ~ u/randy-lawnmole (176 points, 114 comments)
    5. "Why is Flexible Transactions more future-proof than SegWit?" by u/ThomasZander (175 points, 110 comments)
    6. "You have to understand that Core and their supporters eg Theymos WANT a hardfork to be as messy as possible. This entire time they've been doing their utmost to work AGAINST consensus, and it will continue until they are simply removed from the community like the cancer they are." ~ u/singularity87 (170 points, 28 comments)
    7. Blockstream/Core don't care about you. They're repeatedly crippling the network with their DEV-CONTROLLED blocksize. Congestion & delays are now ROUTINE & PREDICTABLE after increased difficulty / time between blocks. Only we can fix the network - using MARKET-CONTROLLED blocksize (Unlimited/Classic) (168 points, 60 comments)
    8. 3 excellent articles highlighting some of the major problems with SegWit: (1) "Core Segwit – Thinking of upgrading? You need to read this!" by WallStreetTechnologist (2) "SegWit is not great" by Deadalnix (3) "How Software Gets Bloated: From Telephony to Bitcoin" by Emin Gün Sirer (146 points, 59 comments)
    9. This trader's price & volume graph / model predicted that we should be over $10,000 USD/BTC by now. The model broke in late 2014 - when AXA-funded Blockstream was founded, and started spreading propaganda and crippleware, centrally imposing artificially tiny blocksize to suppress the volume & price. (143 points, 97 comments)
    10. Now that BU is overtaking SW, r\bitcoin is in meltdown. The 2nd top post over there (sorted by "worst first" ie "controversial") is full of the most ignorant, confused, brainwashed comments ever seen on r\bitcoin - starting with the erroneous title: "The problem with forking and creating two coins." (142 points, 57 comments)

    1. Remember this picture ? It was a very strong and cool message from around 2014 . Well, sadly it's not true anymore. 4. enough with the blockstream core propaganda : changing the blocksize IS the MORE CAUTIOUS and SAFER approach . if it was done sooner , we would have avoived entirely these unprecedented clycles of network clogging that have caused much frustrations in a lot of actors (173 points, 15 comments)
    5. Gavin Andresen on Twitter - 'This can't be controversial... can it? - a definition of Bitcoin' (136 points, 38 comments)
    6. adam back on twitter "contentious forks are bad idea for confidence & concept of digital scarcity. wait for the ETFs. profit. mean time deploy segwit & lightning" - no! a corrupt company like blockstream with a washed out ex cypherpunk like adam are what's bad for Bitcoin . (122 points, 115 comments)
    7. "Bitcoin: A Peer-to-Peer Electronic Cash System" - if you stray from that , you don't get to keep calling it Bitcoin. call it blockstreamcoin, adamcoin, gregcoin, theymoscoin or whatever and go fork off yourself . (112 points, 19 comments)
    8. soon 21 will have to change the scale , because 180 satoshi/KB won't be enough anymore - madness - feel free to send your complaints to greg maxwell CTO of blockstream (112 points, 31 comments)
    9. PSA : if you use a ledger wallet , you risk paying an absurdly high free - see here : 10$ for a 225 bytes 150$ tx - but remember , it's all fine for your elitist and gregonomic friends at blockstream (109 points, 111 comments)
    10. Luke 'the liar' Dashjr : ' My BIP draft didn't make progress because the community opposes any block size increase hardfork ever. ' -- yes , he wrote exactly that !! (96 points, 33 comments)

  5. 1590 points, 9 submissions: parban333
    1. Dear Theymos, you divided the Bitcoin community. Not Roger, not Gavin, not Mike. It was you. And dear Blockstream and Core team, you helped, not calling out the abhorrent censorship, the unforgivable manipulation, unbecoming of supposed cypherpunks. Or of any decent, civil persons. (566 points, 87 comments)
    2. nullc disputes that Satoshi Nakamoto left Gavin in control of Bitcoin, asks for citation, then disappears after such citation is clearly provided. greg maxwell is blatantly a toxic troll and an enemy of Satoshi's Bitcoin. (400 points, 207 comments)

RaizAU Beginners Guide (Updated!)

Many thanks to u/kvramji and u/inertia_2017 whose original Acorns (and subsequently Raiz) guide this is built on top of (with a few FAQs from Raiz themselves).
This post was last updated on October 23, 2020, and I'll endeavour to update it periodically.
What is Raiz?
Raiz is a financial service, helping you to save and invest your money. They enable Australians to start early, invest often, and reach their financial goals.
How does Raiz work?
Raiz helps you proactively invest. One key feature is round-ups; we round up each of your transactions to the nearest dollar, and invest the change into a diversified portfolio. Simply connect a debit card, or other funding source, then provide us with some basic information. We give you the option of choosing a portfolio that is in line with your investment goals and the amount of risk you’re comfortable taking.
Note that Raiz offers other great ways of investing besides round-ups, for more info please see this article.
What are the fees?
Once an account is opened, there are no fees on $0 balances and after that there is a monthly fee as follows:
Portfolio Balance (<$10,000) Balance ($10,000 and up)
All portfolios (exc. Sapphire) $2.50 p/month (charged monthly) 0.275% p.a. (charged monthly, computed daily)
Sapphire $2.50 p/month + 0.275% p.a. (charged monthly, computed daily) $2.50 p/month + 0.275% p.a. (charged monthly, computed daily)
An rough idea of monthly fees on a range of balances can be seen below:
Average Monthly Balance All portfolios (exc. Sapphire) Sapphire
$500 $2.50 $2.61
$1,000 $2.50 $2.73
$2,500 $2.50 $3.07
$5,000 $2.50 $3.65
$10,000 $2.29 $4.79
$20,000 $4.58 $7.08
$50,000 $11.46 $13.96
Any other fees, including any future changes can be found here.
Raiz Beginners Guide
What’s Dollar Cost Averaging (DCA)? Dollar Cost Averaging is basically spreading your investments in such a way that you can take advantage of the ever fluctuating daily price of stocks. The best example of this concept is given in a simple example here.
What do you mean by Portfolio?
Raiz uses the money which is put into the app by making you pick a type of profile which is differentiated from one another by the risk involved, as well as a few other characteristics (socially responsible, or an exposure to Bitcoin). The risk factor varies, depending on the portfolio. A breakdown based on portfolio can be found in the table below, including the minimum suggested investment timeframe (MSIT):
Risk Level (Raiz Defined) Portfolio MSIT
Low Conservative 3 months
Low to Moderate Moderately Conservative 1 year
Moderate Moderate 2 years
Moderate to High Moderately Aggressive 3 to 5 years
High Aggressive 5 to 7 years
Moderate to High Emerald 3 to 5 years
Very High Sapphire 5+ years
NOTE: Once you decide which portfolio to go by, try to not change between portfolios if you see a loss in the value of the account initially. Stick by it and don’t keep changing portfolio, because you might lose more while changing portfolio because it involves selling and buying stocks at different rates.
What portfolio should I pick?
Common question. It all depends on the amount of risk you are willing to take. There are also portfolios available if you'd prefer a socially responsible portfolio, or an exposure to Bitcoin. The longer you intend to hold your money in your account, the higher risk you might be willing to take.
NOTE: Do NOT panic when you see a down day with a loss against your portfolio. The BEST thing you can think of is DCA. If you have set up recurring investments, you are going to see gains as soon as the stocks go up in price.
Which portfolio performs the best?
Common question. Raiz releases an annual report that provides a summary of portfolio performance, typically in August.
Portfolio performance for the past two years, for all portfolios (excluding Sapphire) can be found here.
Something to note: past performance is not a reliable indicator of future performance. Just because a portfolio has done well over the years, it is no guarantee that will continue to be the case, and things such as pandemics, market crashes and the like do happen. Pick a portfolio that suits your needs.
What is Raiz Rewards?
This is a feature in Raiz which gives you some percentage of the money spent for purchasing with vendors they have tie ups with. The method that you use varies slightly for online and in store purchases.
Online Vendors
To ensure you can get the rewards, go to your PC to the online retail store and add items to the cart. Make sure you go via the Raiz website (or App) to the vendor either on the PC or mobile. Finalize the payments via the link that Raiz takes you by and finish the purchase.
In Store Vendors
To ensure you can get the rewards, go to your App, click Rewards -> In-Store.
Click the vendor option, and select 'Activate Now'. Then, go shopping in store with that reward partner. Make sure you use a card that is linked to your Raiz account.
Payment of Rewards
This percentage that is listed in Raiz Rewards can take up to 90 days (typically 30 days for online, 90 days for in store purchases/Raiz Energy) to show up under the Raiz Rewards column in the "History" window in the mobile app. The percentage varies with each vendor.
What about dividends?
Dividends get paid periodically on the ETF holdings that you have, proportional to the amount of each ETF you own on as of the ex-dividend date. These dividends are invested into your Raiz account, approximately one business day after payment date.
Raiz run an annual blog post outlining the dates that dividends are expected to be paid (they vary slightly). That can be found here.
What about taxes?
Raiz will provide you with tax information at the end of financial year which tells you how to report any earnings from your Raiz account. It comes in the form of a Tax Statement, and is typically available in the third week of July.
This can be found in app by going to My Settings -> Support -> View Statements
How long do transactions stay in pending?
Raiz typically takes up to five business days for taking the money from your account and buying shares and for it to show up as processed. So don’t panic if it takes a few days. It’s a common thing.
Well I've read through this and I've got another issue - where can I go for help?
The Raiz Support crew are available to help you out with your Raiz issues. I've had personal experiences in the past where I've needed a hand, and they've been really great.
You can find more info on how to contact them on the Raiz Support webpage. Or hit them up on Twitter, Facebook, etc.

[uncensored-r/Bitcoin] [GUIDE] The way I came up to have live Bitcoin and others cryptocurrencies prices on your own Exc...

I've seen some tutorials on how to import Coinmarketcap data into excel, but most of them are a little too time consuming as you need to create a new worksheet for every different coin. Here is the way I found that works the best for me. We will be creating a custom excel funcion. Here is the step by step guide:
Edit: I've just update the article to include variants of the custom function for data other than price. (Market Cap, Volume, Supply, etc).
First, create a new file (or use your own portifolio workbook) and on the "Data" tab click on "New Query" -> "From Other Sources" -> "From Web".
Past this link: "https://api.coinmarketcap.com/v1/ticke" and click OK.
A new widow will pop up. Click on "To Table" at the top left corner and hit OK.
Click on the small grey box with two arrows pointing in opposite directions next to "Column1" and press OK. Here you can select what info do you want excel to load. I personally load all of them as you can later retreive any data you want from this source.
Now click on "Close & Load"
A new worksheet will be created. Rename it to "CMC". Note: It's important to rename it exactly to "CMC", we will use a macro that will search for a "CMC" worksheet.
Select the first cell of the first column and click on the "Data" tab -> Refresh All -> "Connection Properties" -> Select "Refresh every" and set the interval you want your prices updated (I set to 20) and select "Refresh data when opening the file"
Press ALT+F11 and a new widnow should open up. Now create a new module as shown below.
Past this code:
Function CMCPrice(CMCTokenSymbol As String)
Application.Volatile
CMCPrice = WorksheetFunction.VLookup(CMCTokenSymbol, Worksheets("CMC").Range("$C:$M"), 3, 0)
End Function
Now it's all set. The code above added a custom function to excel. You can now retrieve the price of any coin registered on Coinmarketcap. To retrieve a price from Bitcoin for example, type =TokenPrice("BTC") on the cell you want the price at.
I hope I've helped you! :D
Note: Remember to save your workbook as a macro enabled workbook or else the macro will not be saved.

This one moment is the reason I will never go back to the Dark Web again.

Ok, at the time this happened, I was a curious college student who wanted to experience and browse the dark web. As a dumb teenager, obviously I didn’t know what I was really getting into.
At the start of downloading TOR and getting access to the dark web, it was just fairly innocent sites such as passport fake identities exc... I’d visited a fake college degree site and was met with a link at the bottom of the page. Out of curiosity, I clicked the link at the bottom of the page and I got redirected to a site which took at least 5-6 mins to load. Then I got redirected to a second site which took even longer to load.
Finally, when this mysterious site had loaded, I had never seen more horror in my entire life. It showed a man, tied up in ropes and screaming in pain. This looked to be a live video with a chat room on the side. On the sadistic chat room, people were typing sickening things, things that no one should ever hear. I heard stuff like “slice his throat open and eat his Adam’s apple raw.” “Slowly mutilate and chop off his limbs one by one.” You had to pay a certain number of bitcoins to make the people on the livestream obey your demands.
I tried to exit the page, I pressed everything but nothing was turning off. I tried to boot my computer off, there was no exit button on the page. I didn’t know what to do... Suddenly, I read a message in the chat room which made my stomach churn. It was along the lines of “chop off his genitalia and shove it down your own throat.” This honestly made me wanna puke. The man obliged and proceeded to do what the user asked. The reaction the the chat room was disgusting aswell. People were like “oh yes I can’t wait!” It was fucked up. The man proceeded to chop off the victims genatalia shove it down his throat. I was on the verge of puking but my eyes kept wanting me to look. The victim let out a horrifying scream of pain... There was no doubt I was in one of the dark webs infamous ‘Red Rooms’.
Then I did something stupid, I took to the chat and wrote “you all are sick! Why the fuck would you torture and innocent man like that you sadistic fucks!” That was one of the worst mistakes I have ever made in my whole life. I received messages of abuse from many users like “pussy” “bitch...” Then I received something that made my heart drop.
My message in the chat room was apparently replied by the owner of the site who said. “How come Mr Jared Williams.” That got me shook, he knew my first and last names. Like a fool again, I replied, “I’m calling the cops.” This was an even worse mistake. The owner replied, he leaked my home address, the name of my mum and dad, the name of my younger brother and started sending videos of me through my webcam onto the chat. I felt like passing out, I quickly covered up my webcam with some post it notes. Lastly, the owner of the site said “call the cops and we’ll find you and do the same to you.” I had heard enough, I unplugged everything that was attached to that computer. My palms were sweating and I felt really light headed.
Nothing happened for a whole 6 months, I never told my parents and never called the police, still fearing that the threat was real. I couldn’t sleep for weeks after the incident. However, the creepiest thing of all happened just very recently. I had received mail from an unknown posting address. I opened it up and in large words it said “Don’t worry, we’re gonna find you and make you suffer.” I literally ripped the note up and reported the website to the police.
I will notify and keep you updated if anything happens.

Which crypto class will be among the best performers in next BullRun?(SubPrediction)

I would like to see what the CryptoCurrency community things, which type of CryptoAsset class will out perform each other. I broke it down too three categories.
Payment/Money: This will be like Bitcoin, litecoin, Nano, and exc. These coins will be trying to replace the money system now, which if successful will boom in price.
Privacy Coins: This will be coins that have privacy features like Monero, Dash, Zcash, and exc. These coins are similar to the payment category, but is largely debated about their future cause of this aspect, yet with Coinbase listing Zcash maybe not all doors are closed.
SmartContract: This will be coins like Ethereum, Neo, Ada, and more. These coins aren’t for changing how money works directly, but aim to change and help the business and technology sector on blockchain creating a more friendly user experience for customers and and for developers/businesses.
Utility: This will be coins like XRP, Siacoin, WaltonChain, and others. These coins are similar to a SmartContract, but instead of developing a product they are giving it too you. These possibilities are endless in Utilities such as food processing system by allowing where people’s food been.
Now what do you guys think the biggest gainers will be? I’m leaning towards privacy coins, but see strong connection in the Utility coins. All coins listed i don’t hold and are used for examples.

How LIBRA differs from Bitcoins and PayPal

In fact, a new digital payment system of a well-known social network is much closer to traditional payment systems of web commerce than it seems at first glance. This is a crypto currency and like Bitcoin, it is also based on the blockchain. However, Libra will basically have real assets and will be pegged to stable currencies, and in the future to government securities. The partner list is impressive. They are financial companies like MasterCard, Visa, PayPal Holdings, as well as Coinbase EXC. The project partners contribute a $ 10 million membership fee. The goal of Facebook is to consolidate at least 100 of these corporate partners and form assets of $ 1 billion. So what are the differences?
Libra
The Facebook database has 2.4 billion active users (but not all accounts are real). It gives global access. However, the social network should guarantee its users that the convenience of Libra payments is not a compromise of confidentiality. The blockchains of Libra and Bitcoin have fundamental differences. On the Bitcoin network, transaction verification is decentralized among all system participants. Libra will have a centralized governing body that will monitor and verify all transactions. That, in principle, violates the philosophy of the DLT. The history of such operations will be stored in one place, and the Libra Association will be responsible for maintaining and verifying the digital “ledger”. And who will have access to it - will rule the world and information.
BITCOIN and LIBRA
Bitcoin can be used as a payment system, but mainly it attracts a different group of participants. For a number of reasons, the most popular cryptocurrency has never moved in the direction of the payment network. Only 1% of transactions in the Bitcoin network are made for payments (say experts from Chainalysis). Bitcoins are more often used as a stock asset, and for its main users it represents a profit. Bitcoin is a very high volatile, but due to this, sometimes a very profitable asset. Bitcoin miners are forced to sell part of the money they are receiving for their activities in the form of coin remuneration in order to recoup the real costs of purchasing equipment and electricity. As a fact, by the end of 2017, Bitcoin rapidly soared in price to $ 20,000, but a year later, it crashed to $ 3,500. On June 27, 2019, BTC sharply increased again to $ 14,000. Such volatility makes it difficult to use this cryptocurrency as a means of payment. Moreover, it is a fact.
PAYPAL and LIBRA
The company is one of the founders of Libra. Between the two payment systems in theory a lot in common. The key difference: the Libra network uses cryptocurrency, and PayPal uses Fiat. Fintech-company works by analogy with an online banking. The user may have a PayPal account that is not tied to a credit card or bank account. This payment system has financial information centralized. Users do not need to enter credit card numbers or bank accounts on various websites, which, thanks to fishing and other hacker tricks, can become the property of intruders. All financial information goes through PayPal. To receive money, you must provide an email address, not a bank account. However, PayPal, unlike Bitcoin, is not an anonymous system. The company transfers money based on a license and fulfills the requirements of AML standards. When creating an account, the user will be required to provide personal data. PayPal accepts a wide network of merchants. However, such a major player as Amazon with PayPal does not work, because it has a competing Amazon Pay application.
